After demand dropped off, I shut the Car Cubby business down over two years ago. I let the domain expire and the web site go dark. For reasons unknown, someone has re-registered the domain and revived the web site. As the designer and producer of the product, I can assure you that it’s no longer being produced. I’ve disabled payment processing, which was going through PayPal, but no longer have control of the web site. DO NOT ORDER A CAR CUBBY.
The last batch of Car Cubbys is sold out and I haven’t decided whether to make more or not. Potential customers: You can express your interest by emailing me. I’ll let you know by Sept 15 whether I’m going to make more and if you can order then.
After shipping Car Cubbys to several hundred Prius owners over the last six years, I’ve decided to move on and sell the business.
The ideal buyer is a person or company that manufactures and/or distributes other car parts, is familiar with the auto parts aftermarket, and has established distribution networks.
I got an order via Hans from Ramon in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. The USPS will ship the Car Cubby there First Class for under $4 – a distance of about 3736 miles from Bellingham, WA. That’s about 1/10th of a cent per mile.
I found Custom Box Company in Flower Mound, TX, which produces… custom cardboard boxes at competitive prices. Boxes for the Car Cubby are made so that no packaging material is required.
Got a new batch of Car Cubbys made by Seattle Plastics before we left town. Car Cubbys will now ship from Bellingham WA, in the upper left corner of the country.
The deep freeze gripping most of the country appears to have little effect on sales, as we’ve received orders from Shelton CT, North Baldwin NY, and Lincoln NE so far this year!
