I mailed out 10 order forms to local Toyota dealers last week and got an order from Titus Will Toyota in Tacoma today. The parts department manager actually called me with a purchase order number!

The Car Cubby was first prototyped in wood for my mom, who wanted a place to put her purse – she gets credit for identifying the need. This was a hit, so I made a couple of more for other friends with Priuses, then decided to produce it using partially recycled plastic.

Going Local

I need to make another batch of Car Cubby’s and met with Seattle Plastics, a local fabricator 5 miles away, earlier this week. Their price is about the same as my current supplier, but I’ll save on shipping, so I’ll go with them. They’ll make a sample next week and do a production run if that goes well.
